Q: Uneven Nipples After Breast Augmentation

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 14:38

I had a breast aug 3 days ago. I was previously a 34B and got 300cc smooth under the muscle Mentor silicone. Based on what I've read I understand that it takes a while for them to drop. However, the implant on my right breast has dropped and the left one is a very weird shape and extremely high up. Due to this, my nipples are completely uneven (they were fine pre-op). I just want to make sure that this is normal and that my breasts aren't gonna stay uneven forever. About how long will it take?

A: 3 days after surgery is early

Asymmetry early after surgery is often accentuated by the swelling and tight submuscular pocket. The tight pocket often drives the implant superiorly. As swelling subsides and your tissues relax the implant will often descend into a better position. You can help it along with specialized garments to push the breast inferiorly. This is worthwhile doing consistently in the first 6 weeks before the pocket fully forms and seals the implant to its final position.

Q: Can One Breast Stop Developing While the Other Continues to Grow?

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 11:32

I have always had slightly asymmetrical breasts but as I approached adolescence my breasts have become more different in size and shape. Though asymmetry is common, it looks like one breast simply stopped developing, because the nipple is smaller and the portion of breast tissue under the nipple is significantly not as large/developed as the other. Is this something natural or does it look like a health concern is the cause? Are There Non-invasive Treatments Available?

A: Having some difference between you two breast is normal

Having some difference between you two breast is normal provided the difference is not dramatic. Lots of growth changes happen during adolescence, pregnancy, and menopause. You should soon find the difference stable as you approach the end of adolescence. Now might be a good time to seek out an experienced plastic surgeon to have his opinion on management. Non surgical interventions on breast asymmetries generally do not exist or do not work. Good luck.

Q: Strattice Breast Augmentation Revision: Uneven and Bumpy

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 07:45

I am two days post of from a breast augmentation revision. I went from approx 400cc saline under muscle to 375 silicone moderate profile plus under muscle.
Strattice was used laterally and i think underneath as well (the old implants had shifted into my armpits.)
I'm 5'1 99lbs. I have drains too. The outsides, by my armpits, have a concave indentation in them, and it's swollen under my armpits in an uneven way. From front view they look uneven and one almost saggy?? I'm a little concerned.

A: Too early to worry following breast implant revision

Revision breast surgery especially attempts to control pocket with implanted materials is substantial surgery that will swell and undergo many changes over the following weeks to months. Two days is too early to be concerned.
