Q: Can I Travel in the States Four Wks After Tummy Tuck and Breast Implants

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Sun, 06/12/2011 - 15:22

A: Should not be a problem to travel 4 weeks after surgery

Should not be a problem to travel 4 weeks after surgery. Recovery after breast augmentation usually requires 6 weeks of recovery time. However, if your early course of recovery is uncomplicated and your trip does not entail a high degree of intense activity travel should be safe. Abdominoplasty may require a lengthier recovery especially if you had a rectus sheath plication. Be sure to consult your treating surgeon.

My left breast is very soft and feel fine but my right breast is very high and slightly firmer. I am not in pain at all but I am right handed and not understanding why that breast isnt doing the same as left breast I am worried because the swelling is gone but right breast is so diff from left breast.

A: 22 days is still early

22 days is still early. Without preoperative photos it is difficult to know your starting point regarding symmetry. For now I would just let time work for you to let things settle.

Q: Loss of Sensibility After a Breast Augmentation Surgery Through Periolar Incision

Submitted by Q-A from clee on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 07:25

I am a 26 years old female and I just had a breast augmentation and areola reduction through periareolar incision 3 weeks ago. Before the surgery, the sensibility of my nipples was normal and sometimes, when it was cold, not only the nipple but the whole areola contracted. Now, 3 weeks after the surgery, my nipples are numb and the areola does not contract anymore I want to know if the sensibility of the nipples will return as well as the areola contraction?

A:What you are experiencing is common

What you are experiencing is common and expected this early after breast augmentation. Most patients will have improvement commencing at 6 weeks and becoming progressively better in the ensuing year.
